Kids need vitamin SEA

Salt in the air, kids with sandy hair.

Last weekend, we went on a last-minute weekend to our Belgian Coast. Geoffrey and I always enjoy these escapes that are only one-hour drive away. Normally we would’ve brought our dogs, but this weekend we knew it was going to be so crowded because of ‘The Zoute Night’ at Knokke.

We rendezvous with a lot of friends from our hometown who brought all of their kids, so it ended up to be a playful and active weekend on the  Waikiki beach. Geoffrey and I aren’t parents yet, but we had a taste of the hustle and bustle running around with 8 kids.

I have a passion for handicrafts so I ended up making all types of beach flowers a.k.a. flowers from crepe-paper. The kids love to make their little flower store and sell the flowers for the ‘couteau’ sea shells. Then they go flower hunting with a bucket full of sea shells.

We also went looking for crabs and the poor animals ended up in a bucket with some sea water. Short after lunch we supported the kids to release them again because otherwise the crabs would die.

As it became warmer and warmer in the afternoon, we decided to take a dip with the kids in the water. First I didn’t want to go in, because I thought It was too cold, but I fell heads under because of an unexpected wave. The kids enjoying and laughing out loud reduced the shock of the cold water and I went back in the water to play with them for another 30 minutes.

I can’t explain how much I enjoy playing with all these kids. I had an amazing weekend. I am also excited that I’ve shot these pics just to remember these nice summer days. Please remember to take as many pics in life as you can! I always become so happy looking through albums again.
